Bust a cap for Obama.

We as a nation have survived yet another election. Personally, I'm  glad to see it over and done with. It's not that I didn't enjoy the mud-slinging, the constant bombardment of political advertising or the tossing around of witty nicknames like "Caribou Barbie." What began to aggravate me after awhile, was the gang-like mentality of the voting public.

I can't say I'm all that surprised. If you think about it, our political system isn't so different from gang warfare anyway. I'll explain.

Let's say you've decided to throw your hat into the political arena, the first thing you'll have to do is pick a side. You can be a Crip (a Democrat,) or you can get jumped into the GOP and be a Blood. Roll hard enough, while staying true to the Blue or Red and you just might get the respect and attention of your set. Earn enough street cred, and your gang may even nominate you to run for shot-caller (congressman or governor) in a small scale turf war. Keep your rep up and some day, you could get to run for the presidency. Sway enough  bangers over from the other gang and you end up as the O.G.

I'm actually fine with this. The system may be flawed in some ways, but it works.

What gets to me are the voters who blindly follow their gang's instructions without knowing either party's stance on the issues, or in some cases, the issues themselves. The newly registered voters that cast their ballot based on Mommy or Daddy's beliefs are equally worthless. For these people, it's all about the colors. It's gang mentality, pure and simple. But then again, that's just my humble opinion.

This is great. I'm not up on my gangspeak, but I loved the analogy.
